Interview with HellScream all instruments  of Provocator done by Patrick

1.Hails HellScream please introduce yourself to the readers?

- Hi, first of all thanx for spreading the satanic propaganda of Provocator. Some of you may remember me as one of the founding members, infernal vox and axe from Bleeding Fist, one the scene since 2004.

2.When did you first become interested in writing and playing music? What was the first instrument you learned to play?

- As I remember the first band I was involved in was with my brother Angelus (guitars) from Bleeding Fist around 1999 – 2000 we played some kind of metal punk at the time.

3.Who would you say are your biggest influences and favorite musicians?

- My biggest influences are Mayhem, Hellhammer, Venom, Watain, Dissection…

4.Satan,Chaos,Blood And Terror is Provocator's second full length release how long did it take you to write the music for the new release?

- We can say that there's a good combination of new stuff and old riffs that I kept from the early years of Bleeding Fist. We can say that I worked on SCBAT for a year. The recordings was done in 3 days of supernatural sessions and rituals in the woods of Marezige where we established a new pact with my brother Lord Astaroth.

5.Besides the upcoming release is the debut cd still available to buy?Besides physical releases is their any other merchandise available for the readers if yes what is available and where can the readers buy it?

- Sure, you can buy the CD directly from MORIBUND CULT and the first EP (7˝) Darkness Is Rising from DOOMENTIA RECORDS. I think the split with Sahrana is still available via IRON BLOOD DEATH CORP. RECORDS. I have some Antikristus shirts left which are available from our facebook page.

6. In 2016 you added Lord Astaroth to handle the vocal duties when did you first meet him? Would you like to find more members to make a full band or do you prefer to work as a two man band?

- Lord Astaroth it`s my brother. I first met him on Black lake fest in 2010 where we played (Bleeding Fist) with Mortuary Drape, Maniac Butcher and many more. It was a really chaotic experience with some fights, hard drinking and other stuff I better keep for myself hahahah.

7.What does black metal mean to you?

- As my brother Lord Astaroth said during the recording session of SCBAT: Black Metal it`s poverty, decadence, violence and of course spreading the verb of SATAN!

8.Besides working in Provocator you also handle the vocals and guitars in Bleeding Fist. How would you say Bleeding Fists music is different from Provocator?

- Provocator it`s more primitive and raw that Bleeding Fist stuff

9.Have you and the band started working on new music for the next Bleeding Fist release? If yes any idea when it could be released?

- We have an anthology of demos and unreleased stuff (official Bleeding Fist demos and rehearsal tapes) and we need to finish working on them. We also have a concert DVD and documentary but we wil wait a little bit for this. We are waiting for the right time to do this and return to spread Darkness and Evil hahahha

10.Thank you HellScream for taking the time to fill this interview out do you have any final words for the readers?

- ONLY DEATH IS REAL!

Profane Order--Tightened Noose Of Sanctimony  cd {Krucyator  Productions}

Canada's blackend death war metal band Profane Order have unleashed their newest EP with the band debut full length as a added bonus. The band wastes little time in cutting loose with a violent, primitive form of blackend death metal. The guitars are full of rage with extremely fast guitar patterns. The guitarist does slow to a more calm, mid paced style with some well written and played solo's.The vocals are deep gruff growls  and some black metal  screams that fit the musicial style perfectly.

Interview with Abhor posted on 4-8-18

Interview with Abhor done by Patrick

1.Hails please introduce yourself to the readers?

Kvasir: Abhor here, hailing from Italy, the land of the Christianity but also where its major enemies dwells, land with a strong tradition when it comes on topics as witchery, occultism and darkness…keeping the black flame alive since ’95 and still riding the goat stronger than ever.

2.When did you first discover black metal and who were some of the first bands you listened to? Who are some of your current favorite bands?
Kvasir: we started listening to metal by the end of the ‘80ies/beginning of the ’90ies when there were very little boundaries between black/death/thrash it was perhaps just extreme music back then. The most interesting bands were those with a very strong attitude and a crushing impact. Nowadays favorite bands? Well, that’s a difficult or endless one, we still listen to a huge amount of music to be honest mostly records from the past…

3.Abhor was formed back in 1995 what gave you all the idea to start this band? And how did you choose Abhor as the name of the band?
Saevum: Abhor is the musical materialization of our Occult World. In the early ’90s, I decided to publish my esoteric studies and realized that black metal, was the complete way of art that would have allowed my experiences to take a definite shape. At that time we were young but determined and the Abhor’s concept fit perfectly to incarnate the whole art I had in my mind. The name was quickly chosen: A B H O R! It sounded appropriate and its figurative meaning is the idea of the “opposite” and the Black Principle. After a while also the Vinum Sabbati was born, a trademark that features the presence of one or more members of our congregation and that is not only dedicated to musical activities..

4.How would you say Abhor's music has changed and evolved over the years? Who would you say are the bands biggest influences?
Kvasir: Our music has definitely changed over the years, what’s the point to record 5 albums all like each others?! We’ve enjoyed experimenting new things with every records, some turned out great some other a little bit less. Biggest influences comes certainly from music we listen to but also from what we have and see around us every day, have you ever been to Italy? It’s all about historical villages, churches, old villas, seventeenth gardens, castles, ruins, esoterical architectonics games and more. One great influence is the early black metal scene, for instance, bands from Unisound Records and Turbo Music!

5.Back in the 90's were you a big reader of fanzines if yes what were some of your favorite fanzines that you liked to read?
Saevum: I grew up surrounded by zines, tapes and flyers ha ha ha! I still have everything stored in boxes and sometimes I browsed them to remember the good times. I bought and traded mainly Italian zines, not only of musical themes but also concerning occultism and esoteric groups. I remember Vampiria, Korova milk bar, Bylec-Tum, the zines of O.T.O. and the Golden Down... Obviously some copies of The Slayer mag, and all the zines where Abhor appeared. We also issued our own zine back then, the name was Dainalech.

6.Besides fanzines tape trading was big back in the 80's and 90's were you into tape trading in the early years?
Kvasir: that’s how I grew up, I was younger and with little money to buy original stuff (it was also not so easy to get them as distribution in the area was poor) so trading was the way to get music…and the more tapes you got the more you wanted, I remember those years as a bloodbath of passion and still lot of nostalgia through me as I remember back then. I’ve got in contact with many persons, some of them I’ve recently met for the first time, after years of trading/writing!!! I mean it’s still cool to listen to metal but the feeling is obviously not the same, much went lost with internet and the modern digital approach. Anyway I am and will always be a cassette-lover…still buying and trading tapes in 2018…and that’s probably why we possibly have all Abhor records pressed on tapes beside the regular cd-version.

7.Abhor will be releasing their seventh release Occulta ReligiO through Iron Bonehead Rec, when did you and the band come in contact with Iron Bonehead Rec.?
Kvasir: oh well, nothing really exceptional I just sent out some songs to Patrick that showed us interest in our music and after some days the contract was signed.

8.Does the whole band take part in the writing process or does one member write everything?
Saevum: The writing process is carried on by Kvasir and me. We usually work on guitar and bass guitar lines and decide 90% of the song's structure. After that, when the recording session starts, we give instructions on how we’d like the drums, keyboards and the vocals lines. Our albums are born in front of fire and wine!

9.Who usually handles the lyrics for the music and what are some subjects written about on Occulta ReligiO?
Saevum: As in any other Abhor’s album the lyrics are written by Ulfhedhnir and me. We haven’t followed a precise concept with this last work but we have been involved in various themes concerning ancient rituals, Black Magic, Satanisminstead ... Ulfhedhnir's lyrics are very personal and vaguely dreamlike- style, while what I expose it always get the dimension of a compendium ... I have always used various verses in the ancient clerical Latin language. The title of the opera says all, Witchcraft is our primary source of inspiration.

10.Besides the upcoming release are the bands previous releases still available for the readers to buy? Besides physical releases does the band have any other merchandise available for the readers if yes what is available and where can the readers buy it?
Kvasir: some of them are, perhaps re-press LP or TAPE version + some merchandising like Tshirts and pins. Just drop me a line at nordlys@email.it trades are also welcome (with selected stuff)

11.Does Abhor play live or do you prefer to work in the studio? What have been some of Abhor's most memorable shows over the years?
Saevum: Abhor isn’t playing live at the moment. Personally I prefer to devote myself to the study and composition of the songs following my own order, and not being guided by other circumstances. Years ago we used to play gigs quite often, probably with all the most important bands of the black metal scene, travelling all over Italy and sometimes abroad. I remember several memorable concerts... like a live together with Horna in northern Italy: people became crazy and it was really exciting! About negative experiences I remember a gig in support to Enslaved, where we were treated really badly and humiliated by both the staff and Enslaved: we had to play with a 4-track mix and allowed only to use a small space of the stage that was completely occupied by their instruments...we wanted to refuse playing, but for the respect of the audience, we did our show.

12.Are there any tours or shows planned in support of the new release? If yes where will the band be playing?
Saevum: Nothing planned! There were some rumors about Inferno Festival next year ... we'll see ...

13.What does black metal mean to you?
Kvasir: filthy rotten anthems dedicated to the one who shall conquer the world. 777!

14.Abhor comes out of Italy's black metal scene what is your opinion of the Italian metal scene over the years?

Saevum: the following comes out of my experience: What I remember with pride and nostalgia is the glorious Italian black metal scene that had developed in the 90s: great bands and great personalities, we hanged out together and supported each other with live, tape-trading, hard copy zine, etc ... the quality of music that came out at that time was very high. Then suddenly we started suffering from bigger shocking facts of the Norwegian scene like the church burning various murders and the Italian scene went to the background as well as Greece, France,Poland, Finland and all the others ... then anno 2000 era of internet and digitals: at that point all that was elitist was spread into public for bigger audience and for the masses. The union between the bands started falling apart and people have found a shelter behind a keyboard. Currently there is no Italian scene from my point of view ... there are a lot of good bands, but no scene ... everyone is playing his solo game or jerking off in front of the screen ...

15.Who are your all time favorite bands coming out of Italy? Are their any new bands you feel the readers should check out soon?
Kvasir: great band from the Italian soil are Black Prophecies and Ghostrider for their rotten demos, Run after to, Paul Chain, Black Hole, Sacrilege and Jacula for the Italian dark sound, Dark Quarterer for their first great album combing heavy metal and hard rock, Fingernails for the 1984 recording with Adele Sperati (fucking love it!!!), Excidium for their whole discography when it comes on black metal I dig Maldoror “Ars Magika” …it was just the first names coming in mind but there are MANY worth a spinning.
Among the new comers I enjoyed albums from Hands of Orlac, Necromutilator, Sign of the Jackal, Witchunter, Morbo…

16.Thank you for taking the time to fill this interview out do you have any final words for the readers?
Saevum: May the blessing of the Black Goat fall onto you! Join us in the Vinum Sabbati Congregation... Abhor, another thorn in the crown of Jesus! Amen

Interview with Misanthropic Existence posted on 4-8-18

Interview  with  Misanthropic  Existence   done by Patrick

1.Hails please introduce yourself to the readers?

Greetings, we are Misanthropic Existence. We are Lord Hypocrisy on vocals and guitar, Ealdor Bana on backing vocals and guitar, Samorodek on backing vocals and bass guitar and Cymbal Rapist on drums. For the purpose of this interview it shall be I, Lord Hypocrisy who you are speaking with at this time.
2.When did you  first  start listening to death and black metal music? And  who  were the  first  bands you  listened  to?

To speak loosely for all members, we have been into extreme metal music since at least early teenage years. Bands that went further than our love for Slayer were bands such as Behemoth, Nile, Mayhem, Decapitated, Suffocation, Carpathian Forest, Marduk, Deicide, Emperor.. the list could keep going, there were many bands we all first listened to but here is to name a few of them.

3.When did you  first  meet the other members of the  band? And was it long before you all formed  Misanthropic  Existence?

Speaking of myself, Lord Hypocrisy, I had known Ealdor Bana and Samorodek both quite well as friends during some years before the formation of Misanthropic Existence. I was in a previous band called Rigor Mortal at the time and we used to play gigs and these guys were present at our shows, in those days I used to throw insane parties at a house I had at the time and we all used to congregate there and get stoned and drunk and who knows what together, all of course with metal music accompanying us wherever we were, and it was around this time that my former band split up due to personal differences.
I have always been a very determined individual and was especially determined at this point to get right into forming a new group and do much more and much bigger things, the bassist at the time with the old band joined me and we searched for the missing link, namely a drummer. That was when after searching for a while we found ourselves referred to Cymbal Rapist by a mutual friend of ours all, and so I made contact with him. We agreed to try something out, organised a practice and after a few weeks of demoing and running through some of my guitar riffs we had completed a couple of tracks we were very happy with. We named the band Misanthropic Existence and after more material, various line-up changes and introducing the current members into the mix, here we are today.

4.Who  would you  say  are the bands biggest  influences?

Our influences are vast and too numerous to count as we are all as individuals very active and passionate listeners of extreme metal and music, for myself, I draw less and less inspiration or influence from music of others as time goes on, and instead try my utmost to inspire and influence myself and refine my own craft as much as possible to try and utilise best my abilities to reach my goal – to create the most nihilistic, angry, hatred fuelled and apocalyptic extreme metal I can, to reflect upon my own world views and state of mind.

5.Death Shall Be Served is the bands debut release which is  being released through Aesthetic Death how did you and the band come in contact with this label?

*The albums name is “Death Shall Be Served.”*
Through a mutual friend actually. It’s funny really, because where we live is a very small village, very conservative area, nothing notable outside of the dog walking and cups of teas and routinely pruned gardens, and unbeknown to any of us until our paths crossed through this mutual friend, there was an active extreme music label, a producer of extreme music and an extreme metal band. Naturally this intrigued all of us! Stu from Aesthetic Death kept tabs on our productivity and remained interested in what we were doing and likewise us with Aesthetic Death. It wasn’t until we finished recording Death Shall Be Served that Stu asked for a copy to listen to, he then came back and told us he really liked what he heard, and said that he was willing to green light a run of the album if we were happy to work together. We all agreed and the album found physical form.

6.Does  the whole  band take part  in the writing process or does one member usually  write  everything?
I write the guitars first normally or at least have a few riffs to start, the drums are then normally arranged by Cymbal Rapist and we then finish tracks typically together, we then get everyone else to put their parts towards it, and then I write the lyrics.

7.Has  Misanthropic  Existence played very many  live shows or do you prefer working in  the  studio?
We have indeed played quite a few shows, we have been getting more and more busy with shows lately with a main stage appearance at this year’s Incineration Festival in London alongside Abbath, Taake, Sarkom, Rotting Christ and others.. We really enjoy all aspects of the music, we love playing live and also we love working in the studio. Since the release of the album we have been hitting the road as much as we can.

8.What have  been some of the  bands most memorable  shows  so far?Are their any upcoming tours or shows   in support  of  the debut if  yes  where will the band  be  playing?
Each has been memorable in their own way, other than the aforementioned incineration festival appearance we also have played a show for terrorizer magazine one Halloween, we have played with some great bands in gigs all around the UK, at various venues and some to mention which we really liked the most were fuel rock bar in Cardiff, the chameleon arts cafe in Nottingham, the Hobgoblin in Camden, London, the frog and fiddle in Cheltenham and our local at Worcester the Marrs bar. Each if these venues have great environments and a great set up with great promoters and we highly recommend them.

9.What does underground  metal  mean to  you?
To me, underground metal means offensive, deep and dark, real heavy metal that provokes thought and inspires to reach the limits of extremity and musicianship. It is a real scene with real people doing real music, the good honest way in a world so far gone with media saturation, money and politics. It’s where people can really let go and be themselves, where the like minded meet and where the differences between us are ironed out and our experiences shared. It’s the best source of music you can get anywhere as it is true, exactly what it says on the label and gives so much more than the asking price. Alot of the bands in the underground consistently outdo the mainstream in every way except their bank balances and that is why it is important to support your local underground scene, it promotes culture and keeps things real.

10.Misanthropic  Existence  comes out of  the U.K blackend death metal  scene what  are your  thoughts  on the  scene in  the U.K?
The scene in the UK seems varied and fairly strong, there are plenty of very good bands out there to find and enjoy and the most strong elements here seem to be found in doom, hard-core, grind-core, death metal and thrash. There is not so much in the way of black metal here as much as could be found in Europe for example but some that does exist is definitely very good, like most things though it’s all about finding the time to search and sift through what’s there to find your personal favourites.

11.Who  are your  all-time favorite  bands  coming out of  the U.K? And  are their  any new  bands you  feel  the  readers  should  check  out  soon?
Agrona are very good, so too are Blasfeme, we would also say Cranial Separation, Heathen Deity and Bast. These are our favourite bands we know of and have either played with or highly regard right now from the UK underground scene. The beauty of it being there are still so many to discover, And we look forward to the opportunity to do so.

12.Thank you  for taking the   time  to  fill  this  interview  out  do you  have  any  final  comments  for the  readers?
We want to thank all who enjoy the album and what we do for the continued support, and we would like to ask that everyone keeps supporting underground metal. When you buy a t-shirt or a CD or go to a show, you are actively helping these musicians who have put alot of their own time and money into what they do and it truly comes from a passion, it is more important now than ever in the current climate to keep supporting your local musicians and scene and also the bands within the underground as a whole, it’s important for culture and that includes your own enjoyment. Praise and hails to all the readers and keep the flame of extremity and passion burning \M/

Profane Order interview done by Patrick posted up on 4-6-18

Interview  with Profane  Order  done  by Patrick

1.Hails please introduce yourself to the readers? And how is life in Canada these days?

Profane Order is a black metal band from Montreal, QC. We have survived another long winter.

2.Profane Order was started in 2015 when did you first get the idea to start this band?

We began out of a desire to create black/death metal. We were aware of each other through our previous and/or current bands and felt we could develop something that would refine the efforts we were putting forth in other projects.

3.What is the current line of the band and who would you say are the bands biggest influences?
There are four members in the band. Our biggest influences are apparent in our music: BLASPHEMY, CONQUEROR, REVENGE, BLACK WITCHERY, ARCHGOAT, DIOCLETIAN, RIDE FOR REVENGE, etc.

4.Krucyator Prod. will be releasing a cd with the bands newest EP "Tightened Noose Of Sanctimony" with the bands debut as a bonus when did you first come in contact with this label?

We were approached by several labels in the months following the release of "Tightened Noose..." but opted to wait for the right one. Loic is dedicated to underground metal and we respect the fellow Canadian bands on his label.

5.How long did it take to write the music for the new EP. Tightened Noose Of Sanctimony?Does the whole band take part in the writing process or does one member usually write everything?

"Tightened Noose..." was written in about 8 months. Typically one member will bring a completed song to the table and the other members will work it out and make changes if necessary.

6.Who usually handles writing the lyrics and what are some subjects you all write about on the new release?

Overall themes of hate, death, war, perversion, misanthropy and nihilism can be found within most of the tracks. The lyrics are intended as an evocation of violence and hostility that is then turned into strength. It is about personal truth.

7.Besides the upcoming release does the band have any other merchandise available for the reader to buy?If yes what is available and where can the readers buy it?

We have the second pressing of "Tightened Noose..." on tape, plus longsleeves. Both of which will be available through our Bandcamp when we return from our tour this April. There will be a Southeast Asian edition of "Tightened Noose..." appearing eventually on tape via DIABOLICURST PRODUCTIONS.

8.Besides working in Profane Order do you or any of the members currently work with any other bands?

Between all members we are involved in various projects such as BLOOD SACRIFICE, EYES OF NIGHT, HARUSPEX, SPECTRAL WOUND, TAGGARIK. Many of these projects share similar members. We keep things close

9.Does Profane Order play live very many live shows if yes what have been some of the most memorable shows so far?

We have only recently eclipsed the 10-show mark in our roughly 3 years as a band. We prefer to reserve our live performances for certain occasions such as our friends passing through on tour or playing with bands we have a lot of respect for. Highlights have been playing with FUNEBRARUM, OATH DIV.666, TOMB MOLD, AHNA, PIG'S BLOOD, etc as well as with our counterparts in BLOOD SACRIFICE and SPECTRAL WOUND.

10.Are their any shows or tours planned this spring or summer? If yes where will the band be playing?
"Traitor's Perdition - Spring 2018" looks like this:
April 3 - Montreal - Brasserie Beaubien w/ SKUMSTRIKE, BANAL
April 4 - Ottawa - Funeral Home w/ OCCULT BURIAL, VOMIIR
April 5 - Toronto - Faith/Void w/ TOMB MOLD, REAL WORLD, CEMETERY CURSIVE
April 6 - Vancouver - Alf House (TBC)
April 8 - Victoria - Logan's Pub w/ HUMAN AGONY / PAIN APPENDIX, SHIBBOLETH
April 10 - Kamloops - The Grindhouse w/ REGRESS, BOOTLICKER
April 11 - Olympia - The Cryptatropa
April 12 - Portland - Gil's Speak Easy w/ DIABOLIC OATH
April 13 - Seattle - The Black Lodge w/ HISSING, PUTRID TEMPLE
April 14 - Vancouver - The Black Lab w/ REGRESS

11.What does underground metal mean to you?

Our underground extends beyond metal and has close ties with punk and harsh noise. We are interested in all forms of underground art and expression.

12.Profane Order comes out of Canada's black, death metal scene what are your thoughts of the Canadian metal scene?
There are a lot of bands that are dedicated to making devastating raw black/death/whatever. We have connections spread throughout the country, but there is a lot of distance between all of the major hubs. As far as Montreal goes there is an extremely dedicated few in this city that keep the spirit of metal, and underground music in general, alive. Festivals like MESSE DES MORT and COVENANT. Labels like TOUR DE GARDE, SEPULCHURAL PRODUCTIONS, NOIR SUR NOIR. Record stores like CHEAP THRILLS. All of these people are totally devoted to the underground and are held in our highest regards.

13.Who are your all-time favorite bands coming out of Canada? And are their any new bands you feel the readers should watch out for?

Our all-time favourites are nothing more than the obvious: BLASPHEMY, CONQUEROR, DEATH WORSHIP, TOMBEAU, REVENGE, SECT PIG, etc. Out of the current crop of relatively new faces BLOOD SACRIFICE (Montreal), CEREMONIAL BLOODBATH (Vancouver), TEMPLE OF ABANDONMENT (Vancouver) are all worth keeping an eye on. Bands like ALTERED DEAD, DEATHWINDS, HUMAN AGONY, ILMESTYS, TOMB MOLD, etc should also be on everyone's radar.

14.Besides bands are their any good, honest Canadian labels you could recommend to the readers?

Labels and distros we respect are EYE AND EAR CONTROL (Winnipeg), NOIR SUR NOIR (Montreal), TOUR DE GARDE (Montreal). There are few that achieve longevity in this country, but they are among the most dedicated anywhere.

15.Thank you for taking the time to fill this interview out do you have any final words for the readers?

Total support to the underground.
