Towards Hellfire--Death Upon The Holy Throne cd{Putrid Cult} Posted on 5-21-23

Towards Hellfire are a three piece coming out of Poland's black death metal scene.Death Upon The Holy Throne is the debut full length featuring eight tracks of violent old school black metal at it's best. The guitars are performed with a fast paced approach and delievery. The guitarist does create some very well performed guitar passages. The drumming is played with extremly fast drum passages. Both the guitars and drums are performed with a skillful writing ability and intense patterns. The vocals are a mix of black metal shrieks and some death metal growls are used throughout the songs. Both vocal styles fit the music perfectly.Towards Hellfire plays a  aggressive and chaotic style of old school blackend death metal and is recomended to those who love this genre of music.                            Towards Hellfire                                                                                                                                            https://towardshellfire.bandcamp.com/album/death-upon-the-holy-throne                                                https://www.facebook.com/Towardshellfire                                                                                               Putrid  Cult                                                                                                                                                     https://www.putridcult.pl/                                                                                                                            https://putridcultproductions.bandcamp.com/music                                                                              https://www.facebook.com/PutridCult/                                                                              https://www.instagram.com/putrid_cult/

Interview with Amock conducted by Patrick posted on 5-7-23

1.Hails Memphist how are you doing this week? Please introduce yourself to the readers?

1- Greatings my unholy brother and hails to the hordes gathering with us. Busy and cold week indeed but flowing balance.

2.When did you first discover black metal and what is it about this musicial style that drew you in?

2 - I began listening to black metal in high school at the age of 16. Death and trash fueled me but there was something missing for me that when I heard my first albums from Darthrone, Carphatian forest, Craft and specially Dark funeral feast that missing part. Time later i began playing guitar and doing vocals.

My ways, with who I was and am now the Black Metal did a great impact. Letting me using this music as a gateway representing who i am at my fullest. What i am, what i believe, my ways.

3.Who were some of the first bands that you discovered?Who are some of the current bands that have caught your attention?

3 - well as i mention earlier, Darthrone, Carpathian Forest, Craft and more important for me Dark Funeral in the times of Themgoroth and Magnus Caligula. Fucking brutal times.

4.Amock was started in 2020 when did you get the idea to start this band?

4 - I was influenced for the creation of Amock by lets say expose a hidden part of me Memphist. More viceral and unholy. Most of the lyrics and context in Amock is my despise for the christian religion and their sick ways of spread weakness. A Control and sick endoctrination of stupidity, ignorance an weakness upon the masses.

Amock spreads and is the opposite. More self. Awakening and full opposition to the mindless ways of christianity.

All this in the most extreme and offensive way upon christianity. Being soft doesn't work no more with this subject and this... deranged people. To make a antichristian statement of reality and facts. Going beyond limits is the right way to act.

5.Who would you say are Amock's biggest influences? For the readers who have never heard the band how would you best describe Amock's sound?

5 - I would said that Amock influences are the  raw old school black Metal demonic essence. I will not pin point a certain band.

6.Mork Rensing is the newest EP.how would you say the new release is different from your earlier releases?

6 - Amock last album "Mork Rensing" or Dark cleansing. Is a work that carries Amock same black Metal evilness musically speaking. Just with more ominous atmosphere in some songs. Thy embrace of afliction and ocultism.

7.How long does it usually take to complete one song?

7 - Well... it usually depends on the track i am working on and indeed my spare time on hand. Some of them are fast. Some take a bit longer. All depends. Thats why i embrace being a OMB. No boundaries what so ever.

8.Where do you find inspiration for the lyrics and what are some subjects you write about?

8 - i would say that thy self within me. Some songs misanthropic chaos. Some other obscure context. It depends of what summons within my head to unleashe.

9.I believe Amock has quite a few releases out what are the releases availible?Where can the readers purchase them?

9 - Yes indeed. There two albums officialy released. 2022 "Slutten" and 2023 "Mork Rensing" both albums can be physically acquired via Masters ov Kaos and Plague Demon record.

10.Amock comes out of Puerto Rico's black metal scen what is your opinion of the scene in Puerto Rico?

10 - Well thats a correction i would like to address. Amock was created in the USA NY. My other band Niohoggr i founded it in Puerto Rico. Gave a couple of live shows then move to NY. SO The full ground of Amock was here on NY upstate. I consider and represent USA with Amock. About the PR scene in my times was pretty decent with outstanding bands. Not just in Black Metal but in other genre like trash etc. BUT.. to be honest the support for Black Metal is poor. One of the reasons why i decide to move from PR. In there i was gonna be stuck with that dilema. No time for that. Once out of PR all the gates open. I began to get the attention of other countries like south America, Colombia Mexico, Uk, FINLAND and other sites in europe. And with bands i keep contact and still following from Puerto Rico are Serpenterium, Necronomic and VALTURN. Real dedicated musicians for this brutal genre in PR.

11.Who are your all time favorite bands coming out of Puerto Rico?Who are some of the current bands that you can recomend to the readers?

11 - Strait to it Serpenterium, Necromomic and Valturn.

12,Besides Amock you also work with Niohoggr and Angrbodas Curse how would you say these bands music is different from Amock?

12 - Amock is misanthropy and anticristianism. Niohoggr deals with Ocultism and war; . In Angrbodas Curse i do the unholy guitars but i must say, in Angrbodas Curse

All the music composition and full creation of Angrbodas Curse is upon Angra .

13.What does black metal mean to you?

13 - As i mentioned early the Black metal for me is a gateway from this comsuming anf fucked up reality.

14.Memphist thank you for taking the time to fill this interview out do you have any final comments for the readers?

14 - Thanke for the infernal privilege my war brother. And i just shall say to all the hordes; keep brutal and keep the Black Metal flame high above....                                                                                              Amock                                                                                                                                                           https://www.facebook.com/Amockofficial                                                                                                   https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo0QDBvMRmo6LUTN_wdII2Q

Chovu interview conducted by Namtar posted on 5-7-23

This is Namtar Axarcuth hailing from Philadelphia PA USA, today we will be interviewing Preston from the band Chovu hailing from Kenya in Africa

1.) Hails brother ,its an honor to do this interview with you today, I have seen you guys have been making quite a name for yourselves lately, Tell the readers where the name Chovu comes from and what it means to you.

1.)Hello Namtar,Greetings from Kenya,I am Preston Samna Madoo the vocalist,AKA Lord Rot,To answer your first question Chovu is borrowes from ancient dead swahili languange which means "something bad." The modern swahili refers it to 'Kiovu'

We picked this name to represent our message of dying customs and how the christianity turned our ancestral practices to evil or works of evil.

2.) Do you guys have a specific lyrical content you stick to , or do you write about many different subjects?

2.)Yes we so have a specific lyrical content based on African warriors, demons, witches and forefathers.Sometimea just for fun we throw in alittle of Satan because of the sauce he adds to metal music but we really focus on African folklore, myths and recordes history.

3.) Correct me if I'm wrong , I am an occultist and practice many different forms of rituals, conjurings and study the occult in a million different ways as to only study one thing limits you greatly, to me it seems you may be into voodoo of some sorts, is my assumption right or wrong? And if you do can you explain your practices and beliefs and how that may tie into your music.

3.)We do practice voodoo magic and you might notice on our recent shows we gave tribute to our ancestors before playing the show.We borrowed west african theatrics of calling to the ancestors for guidance in which case during live performances old black spirits with high energy posses us and we fulfil our ritual and the deal is for them to return our flesh vessels to us after. The entire voodoo cultures runs in our blood since our ancestors had their hand in deep in the pot of the old Gods We do cleansing and protection rituals and summoning of higher power to influence our creation.

4. What are the biggest music influences for Chovu, what bands drove you to make the music you make?

4.)Biggest music influences run from Darkthrone,Carpathian forest,Psychonaut

4,Ahab,Nocturnal Depression,Moonspell,Overthrust,Skinft Among others in metal Also further from metal are african artists like Ayub Ogada for his folklore ,Fela kuti and every spiritual singer of Africa who summon and appease the ancestors

5.)Is there a scene in Kenya or are you the only band doing the kind of music you're doing there?

5.)We are not the only band in kenya but for now we are the only one doing our genre of extreme black metal and death metal elements, Other bands are like Irony Destroyed who do deathcore like sound, Last years Tragedy who are more metalcore, Straight line Connection who i would call progressive and alittle bit of nu metal..but our old scene had more brutal bands but most disbanded though characters from the old bands went ahead to form the new ones

6.)How tolerant are the people of your country of extreme metal ? Is this something you must do in secret or is it widely accepted?

6.)To be honest our genre is quite extreme here. For the first time in our five years active ,we have played twice in our own country metal scene and we still scare guys in the scene.Only interest from the crowd has prevented us from being lynched to death.Although we have been attacked before for having demon corpse paint on,we have been called an evil occult of satan for how we dress and how we feel and think. We have been denied by friends and family for our interests. Our biggest fan base is outside kenya. Here we are Something Bad,haha, pun intended.

7.) How many releases does Chovu have at this time? Are you working on any new recordings?

7.)So far Chovu has a few releasea if i can mention them

We have an exclusive album edition of WHAT SORCERY IS THIS ? released by Masters of Kaos,

We have Moran the Ep

We have 3 split albums with Overthrust,The Witch and Osy Mainty

So we are still quite a long way to go but we love the response with the releases we have done.We have close to 15 to 20 songs released and we are currently working on full length album and a possible Ep,Ouraon challenge is not song writing its recording which is unavailbale for underground artists in kenya,we have the service of mixing and mastering being offered by our friend Jay Parker but to send him the materials requires alot from us and we are not suitable financially capable country to support youth talent easy, especially a metalband. We have had support from you and other metal artists abroad and trust me thats the only thing keeping us alive our outside connection to fellow metalheads is helping us stay on the map.

8.) Is there a writing collective amongst the band or is there one person who writes the songs and teaches them to the other members?

8.)At the start song writing was a learning process from everyone but at this point im confident to say we are on the next level of this because its evident that all members take part in song writing.Chovu songs inclide riffs written by Guitarists or Bassist or arrengement by drummer or arrangement by me, its a whole contribution of effort ,in another time i would enjoy explaining everysong whose responsible for what but for now im confident in saying we are a group effort in song writting.

9.)I have had the honor of releasing one of your splits on my label Plague Demon Records, along with all of my partner labels, will you be releasing anything else with us in the future or are you aiming at a higher record deal?

9.)I remember the release with Plague Demon and how it came in handy after that step,we have made friends with Artists like Chris Waters of Imisanthrope and more American underground enthusiasts.Ofcourse we would like to work more with you we enjoy how collaborations are taking us closer to the dream of touring and being pioneers of alot in kenya so yes we wont be close minded to partnership we welcome it.

10.) Do you have any words of wisdom or hatred to the fans, readers, friends or enemies of Chovu?

10.)Anywords hahaha this is a goodone I’ve realized the first approach of most people to Chovu is hate but when they get to know us they love us to death,so my words are

Be patient we are on to something pure and revolutionary, hold your breath ,no one is free until everyone is ,so wish us luck for we fight for freedom.would like to say personally that you are one of the coolest ,laid back metal tyrants I've ever encountered and I'm honored to have gotten to know you and your bandmates, for anyone who hasn't listened to Chovu, stop procrastinating and get out there and support these guys/ and girl . Hails to all of you, and thanks for doing this interview!

Thanks for the interview we shall never forget this mighty Namtar, and i personally love your band and would love one of your merchandise in future.Thank you!                                                                           Chovu                                                                                                                                                           https://chovu.bandcamp.com/album/what-sorcery-is-this                                                                            https://www.facebook.com/Chovuband                                                                                                        https://www.instagram.com/chovuke/

Throne interview conducted by Namtar sone on 5-5-23

This is Namtar Axarcuth reporting from Philadelphia PA ,today we will speak with Throne from Jackson Michigan

1.) Can you tell me when you started the band and what the name Throne means to you.

Kollin and I started the band in 2014 as a side project. I was in a pretty active band at the time. But once that disbanded we hit the ground running with Throne and never just looked back. Well the meaning of the band name is pretty easy…a place to sit as a higher power..but to us it its our legacy.

2.) How many members are there in Throne and their names and instruments they play.

We have four members in Throne. Nate(me) Vocals/Guitar, Kollin Drums, Les Bass, Tim Lead Guitar

3.) Where do you record your albums? I'm very impressed by the production of your releases .

We record our releases at Bricktop Studios in Chicago with Andy Nelson

4.) What is the lyrical content of your songs?

It usually ranges from a variety of different things. But for the most part its just based off of dark content, ominous beings, end of the world etc…etc..

5.) I hear you are a band that's playing alot of shows, is this true and if so would you like to give the reader's some upcoming dates if any?

We actually have quite a few shows coming up in the future here. We are going to be doing our first tour. 5/20 Cincinnati Ohio - Northside Tavern with Mutilatred 5/21 Indianapolis, Indiana - Blackcircle 5/30 Ft. Wayne, Indiana - Piere’s with Sanguisugabogg 6/16 Haltom TX - Haltom Theater 6/17 San Antonio TX - Eisenhauer Flea Market 6/18 Houston TX 6/19 New Orleans LA - Siberia 6/20 Huntsville AL - Coppertop Dne’N’Dine 6/21 Atlanta, Georgia - Sabbath Brewing 6/22 Knoxville TN 6/23 Cleveland OH - No Class 6/24 Lafayette IN - Tippecanoe County Amphitheater 6/26 Indianapolis IN - Black Circle with Maul

6.) Do you currently have a record label? If so what label is it and if not are you searching for a label to release these albums on in any specific formats?

Right now we are working with Redefining Darkness Records with our releases

7.)What are some of the bands main music influences?

Suffocation, Hate Eternal, Dark Funeral, Belphegor, Angel Corpse….as of late we have kind of started trending into more of a slam sound…so bands like Defeated Sanity, Stabbing, Devourment have been influences

8.) What is your view on the scene today overall, do you think its going in the right direction , or are you finding that it's growing stagnant?

The death metal scene now is bigger than ever and it is awesome to see! We love where its going. Its not a small niche genre anymore! I believe social media has been a very good thing for music in general giving a platform for all of these performers to show what they’ve done to the masses.

9.) In 5 words describe Throne to our readers

Fast, Heavy, Intense, Loud, Precise

10.)Do you have any subjects you would like to speak about, any words for your supporters or fans, or any words of wisdom for other bands?

Just work at it. Don’t give up. It takes a lot of work to get anywhere in the music business but if you keep at it and grind you’ll be able to carve out a piece in history for yourselves. I would like to add as a first time listener I was very impressed by Throne , you have a great sound that stands out on its own, I wish you guys the best in the future and I thank you for doing this interview, Hails!

Thornspawn interview done by Namtar Posted on 5-1-23

This is Namtar Axarcuth coming to you from Philadelphia PA, Today we're going to interview the man behind the mighty Thornspawn - Blackthorn

1.) Hails brother, you have been doing Thornspawn a long time now, in the beginning year's you had alot more members, how do you feel about the band changing and evolving over the years?

Hails Namtar and thank you for the support and brotherhood all these years of both Thornspawn & my own musical endeavors. I think that change and evolution is a part of not only life but of art. One must evolve and change its perspective as one grows and matures. One has to reinvent its self to interpret what one wishes to transmit in to its music. Yes band members have came and went throughout the years and there has not been a steady “line up” for over a decade now. But in a sense that is a great thing, as the changes and inspiration that I find, metamorphizes in to something greater than myself and my art. So naturally there is no room or interest for established members anymore….

2.) What was your vision of Thornspawn in the beginning and is the vision still the same for you or has it changed over the years?

The vision has always remained the same, Barbaric & Bestial Black Metal filled with ravage hatred and a proclamation of War against all. I am not here to reinvent the wheel per say, but to give my interpretation of what true Black Metal madness should be. I actually am semi quoting a comment given to me by a long time friend and fan I ran in to after some years. And his words were these above, that he was very selective with the bands of today, but enjoyed very much my steadfast approach to the continuation of the band all these years. Not trying to change what the purity and darkest essence of what Thornspawn introduced all those years ago.

3.) Has your lyrical content stayed the same from the early years or do you feel it has grown or evolved from your original lyrical content?

Lyrical manifestations remain the same. Death, hatred, vengeance, antireligious sentiment and the abolishment of all false white light and disgusting goodness. Perhaps it has grown in the “poetic” form and interpretation but the message is clear, Death to Mankind.

4.) Do you have any plans to tour in the upcoming months or years, if you have anything planned where would your fans be able to see you? What do we have to look forward to if anything?

There are talks about a few shows in California (Los Angeles/San Francisco)in August 2023 as well as a few shows in Canada (Montreal, Quebec, Toronto) sometime in July 2023. A tour of Central America (Costa Rica, Guatemala, El Salvador) are being arranged for end of year or early 2024 by organizers in that region where we shall have the assistance of a few session guitar players. And lastly 2024 will finally see Thornspawn storming East Asia (Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan) as well as China and Japan. This is something I have waited for over 20yrs!! More info shall be given on all our social media platforms soon…Beware!

5.) You and I have been friends a long time now as you invited us to play ( when I was in Blood Storm) down to San Antonio many times to your Sacrifice Of The Nazarene Child Festivals , Do you see yourself putting any other festivals together in the future?

That is correct we met at my then Fest and have remained friends since. Even though we lost touch for some years, it is great to see you continuing with your label, your band Namtaru, and now conducting interviews. I hail you for your tenacity and commitment to this art known as Black Metal!! I have through the years been asked IF and when I will bring back Sacrifice of the Nazarene Child Black Fest but I think that the underground is not in need of such a festival since there are so many these days. The exclusivity and special feeling of such a fest is not something that can be duplicated in this day and age. I think when that fest was created it was created for “US” and not for the masses.

6.) I think this era of Thornspawn is amazing! You are lucky enough to have Hella your amazingly talented wife with you in the band, that must be a great addition to the band and a great feeling for you personally, can you tell us your feelings on this matter and what Hella adds to Thornspawn in your eyes?

Yes I think that Thornspawn has gone through a transformation and this exact moment has become its greatest point. Since Hella has joined the band it has given its final and strongest deathblow. What I refer to is that with her hunger, passion and commitment to this band and the vision that I have had all these years. Combining both forces has given back that infernal fire within, that I had created that summer in 1993. Her presence in the forefront truly commands respect and above all BM fury and it can be seen in her eyes creating a fire breathing spectacle that everyone that has seen it live truly engages with her and her BM possession.

7.)I know you were using a session guitarist live for a good while there, have you found a steady member yet? If not do you plan on finding a permanent guitarist?

Thornspawn shall always have session guitarists. I don’t think I shall ever find or honestly care to find a permanent member, ever. I have set my ways, and I refuse compromises. Things work better with less people trying to dictate or manipulate what is one’s vision or art. I think that IF I would ever find someone of this capacity they would have to bleed themselves for years and prove their allegiance to me and this band before I would ever consider giving them a say so or voice.

8.)Do you care to share the title of your newest release and do you have anything else in the works right now for your fans to look forward to?

“Coronation of the Supreme Beast” shall be the next full length and released through Werewolf Records (Finland) on CD, Tape, Vinyl, and Pic Disc. We had created a rough mix recently to introduce a few songs to our fans. But now it is time to get to work with the final mix, which shall be done at Temple of the Beast Studios by myself and my son Absu. The final mastering shall be conducted by Mikko Aspa of Deathspell Omega/Clandestine Blaze at his studio. Death is imminent.

9.) If you have a favorite song of your own which one would it be and why?

One of my latest tracks is dedicated to the memory of David “Blackmoon” Parland, titled “Blackmoon Arise!” Which is a tribute and respect to the man who inspired me to pick up the guitar 6yrs ago.

10.) Can you tell us the main musical influences for your writings?

Many years ago I could tell you that this band or that band has influenced my writing. Now, I can honestly say that I have detached myself from being “influenced’ or inspired when it comes to my efforts in composing or brainstorming ideas for a song. And these efforts have worked out perfectly to construct my own path without imitating ancient godz.

10.) Do you have anything else you would like to share? Any words of wisdom for other up and coming bands, or any thanks you would like to give to anyone in particular?

I hail you for this interesting and well thought out interrogation. I think that advice these days fall on deaf ears. Besides I think that bands of today should battle, suffer, and learn from victories and defeats in order to truly embrace and know the true “wisdom” that this music brings. In those times neither you nor I had any sound advice given to us by bands or anyone for that matter. And we built our empire upon a throne of bones, of those that fell in battle not being strong or able enough to withstand the hellstorm. I invite those that wish to contact me or hear my bands for the first time may do so at the following locations:                                                                                                                                       https://thornspawn.bandcamp.com/                                                                                                              https://www.facebook.com/Thornspawn/                                                                                                    https://www.instagram.com/thornspawnofficial/                                                                                          https://www.facebook.com/officialmaledictvs                                                                                              https://maledictvs.bandcamp.com/                                                                                                               https://templeofthebeast.bandcamp.com/                                                                                                      https://www.facebook.com/BlackDeathCovenRecords/
