Interview with Kvlt Of Odium done on 11-17-20

1.Hails please introduce yourselves to the readers?

Hail I am Wvlfgar , Guitarist of the Horde known as Kvlt of Odium.

2. When did you first discover death and black metal music and who were the first bands that caught your attention? Who are some of the current bands that you have been listening to?

I discovered Black Metal as a youngster when my dad took me to a show where we entered a dark room and out of nowhere the spotlight hit the stage and i remember seeing the singer in corpse paint take off his bullet belt and swing it over the microphone and shoot it like a machine gun and hearing the drums blast like an M60. From that moment on i wanted to be in a Black Metal band. That band id later find out was a Black Metal band called "Nokturne" from Los Angeles. Lately i been listening to a band called "Totenwache" from Germany. Awesome Old School Black Metal.

3.When did you first meet the members of the band and was it long before you all started Kvlt Of Odium? How did you all choose Kvlt Of Odium as the name for the band?

I had gone to the same High School as our drummer Kaos and we had mutual friends as well as Both played in Black Metal bands in that era. I was in a band called "Nekcrium" at the time and he was in a band called " Mortis Inanis" in which i was good friends with his guitar player. As far as our singer "Lord Attera" i met him in his audition for Kvlt of Odium and also had been the singer of a project him and Kaos were in called "Moonrise Requiem". Kvlt of Odium is a perfect representation of who we are and what drives our direction as a band.

4.Who would you say are the bands biggest influences? For the readers who have never heard the bands music how would you best describe the bands musicial style?

Id say for me would have to be bands like Sargiest, Satanic Warmaster, and Taake. Our style definitely generates from Old School Raw Black Metal like Bathory with a modern twist of Blasts, Screams, and Riffs.

5.Beheading Of A Sheep is the bands debut EP.which is being released through Plague Demon Rec when did the band first come in contact with this label?

This Label is actually connected to another awesome Label known as Blasphemous Creations from Hell in which the leader of that label known as Chuck Manganiello reached out to us with his interest in the band and offer to release our EP.

6.How long did it take the band to write the music for the debut release?Does the whole band take part in the writing process or does one member usually write everything?

The writing process for the release actually came pretty fast and naturally. We are all naturly inspired by our passion for the music. As far as how we write we all bring something to the table and put our flavor in to conjure each song.

7.Where does the band draw inspiration for the lyrics and what are some subjects written about on the new release?Which usually comes first the music or the lyrics?

The inspiration for the lyrics come from our history, mythology, legends & from our own personal experiences in life. Some subjects written in the new release include war against (Christianity) religion, bloodline curses, suicide & destruction. The music always comes first,

8. Besides the Beheading Of A Sheep release does the band have any other releases or merchandise currently available? If yes what is available and where can the readers purchase it?

Other than the Ep we also have a 2 song demo Self titled "Kvlt of Odium" which can be purchased through our bandcamp. As far as merchandise we have Tshirts, and Cds which both come with patches, stickers, and pins that can be ordered by messaging us on either our Facebook or Instagram.

9.What does Black Metal mean to you?

Black Metal isnt just a genre. Black Metal is an attitude. An approach to life. It is being a Wolf amongst your surroundings. Black Metal is being a warrior. Not being like the rest. Strength and pride in the way you carry yourself and face anything in life.

10. Kvlt Of Odium comes out of California's black metal scene what are your thoughts on the scene in California over the years?

Over the years the scene had a slight downfall where originality was at a low. And everyone was following the same recipe. But i see a huge comeback for Los Angeles Black Metal to what once was a great and powerful scene. Alot of great talent is spawning in these times.

11.Who are your all-time favorite bands coming out of California and are their anf new bands you feel the readers should check out soon?

Right now as far as local bands goes. Would have to put Icon of Phobos, Cultus Profano, and Rivia.

12.Are their any reliable and honest labels or distro's you could recomend to the readers?

Would definitly recommend Plague Demon Records and Blasphemous Creations from Hell. They come from the old school die hard metal era. And are all for the band and helping them reach fans worldwide.
